LINGAYEN– This year’s Parada na Dayew activity promises a lot of excitement and surprises as television stars are seen to join the float parade and street dance competition during the 434th Agew na Pangasinan celebration on April 5.
Human Resource Management and Development Office chief Janette Asis said that as of March 27, a total of 23 local government units agreed to join the float parade and 20 LGUs joining the street dance competition.
Other LGUs who earlier expressed interest in joining the activity have yet to confirm.
GMA TV-10, the strategic partner of the 2Ps (Pangasinan Day and Pistay Dayat) will display celebrities on board its non-competing float.
Being one of the main attractions of the celebration, the float-design competition featuring the artistry and craftsmanship of Pangasinenses, will add fun and enjoyment to the festivities.
Adding color and excitement are the street dancers equally clad in uniquely tailored costumes made of indigenous materials, dancing to the beat of their drums.
As this developed, the provincial government has reiterated its invitation to all municipalities and cities of the province to take part in the revelry commemorating the founding of Pangasinan as the competition is open to all LGUs.
The floats will showcase the livelihood, lifestyle, culture and tradition of the town or city that they represent while the street dancers will showcase their town’s festivals, culture and history.
The parade starts at 4:00 pm from Capitol Plaza to Alvear Street-Artacho Street-Lingayen Plaza-Maramba Boulevard and to the Beachfront.
Each contingent will be given an augmentation fund of P20, 000 while winners for both competitions will receive trophies and cash prizes of P100, 000 for the champion, P75, 000 for the 1st runner-up, P50, 000 for the 2nd runner-up, P40, 000 for the 3rd runner-up, P30, 000 for the 4th runner-up, P20, 000 for the 5th runner-up and consolation prizes of P5, 000.
Participants who have sent confirmation for the float parade are the contingents from Alaminos City, Anda, Bani, Bolinao, Burgos, Mabini, Basista, Binmaley, Bugallon , Labrador, Urbiztondo, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Sta. Barbara, Mangaldan, Bautista, Laoac, Pozorrubio, Sto. Tomas, Asingan, Balungao, Rosales, and San Nicolas.
Street dance participants include Alaminos City, Bani, Mabini, Sual, Aguilar, Basista, Bugallon, Lingayen, Urbiztondo, Bayambang, San Carlos City, Sta. Barbara, Alcala, Bautista, Sison, Sto. Tomas, Urdaneta City, Villasis, Balungao and Umingan.
