OLDEST COUPLES: Guillermo Noe and Basilisa Mangonon were the oldest groom and bride to be wedded by Mangaldan Mayor Bonafe de Vera-Parayno. Both lived without the benefit of matrimony until the mayor officiated a free civil wedding rite to 44 couples in the town. Guillermo, who is 80 years old and aided by cane, met Basilisa, 77 , when the latter patronizes his mini-grocery. Guillermo, a widower, and Basilisa a widow “lived- in” for seven years before they decided to join the mass wedding offered by Mayor Parayno in February 18.
